Step 1

Why wake up early?

Because the morning sets the tone for the day. The regimen starts with rising early on purpose: no more sleeping in, and no tolerance for laziness.

Success comes to the man who has the willpower to win over his snooze button. Hold yourself and your group accountable, because consistency is the whole point: the same discipline, every morning.

Step 2

What should you do in the first minutes after waking?

Get as much light as you can, as soon as you wake up. Light engages your senses, tells your body it’s time to wake up, and lifts your alertness and your mood.

Brighten up fast

  • Open the curtains immediately.
  • Switch on every overhead light and desk lamp if there’s no sunlight yet.
  • Step outside if you can.

Step 3 · within 10 minutes

Why drink salt water first thing?

Within 10 minutes of waking, drink a saltwater hydration mix, and hold off on caffeine for at least 90 minutes. It rehydrates you after a night’s sleep and prepares you for the day ahead.

Step 4 · within 30 minutes

Why an ice bath or a cold shower?

Within 30 minutes of waking, take a three-minute ice bath, or a cold shower if a bath isn’t available. It trains discipline: you practice doing a hard thing before the day asks you to.

Why embrace the cold

  • It sparks immediate energy and alertness.
  • It builds consistency and mental toughness.
  • It’s practice: do hard things.

If you have a heart condition or another health concern, ask your doctor before you start cold exposure.

Step 5 · 10 minutes

What happens in the secret place?

The secret place is time alone with God, set apart before the day starts. The regimen opens it with a 10-minute Gratefulness Protocol.

The Gratefulness Protocol

  1. 013 minutes · GratefulnessReflect on three things, and take the time to feel real gratitude for them.
  2. 023 minutes · ThankfulnessPray and thank God, the source of every one of those blessings.
  3. 033 minutes · FaithPicture and declare your goals for today and for the long term. Say, “It’s possible.”
  4. 041 minute · EncouragementLift someone up with a text or a voice message.

Step 6

How should a man read God’s Word and pray in the morning?

With focus and intention. Start each day strong by immersing yourself in Scripture, and let God’s wisdom set your thoughts and your path. Then pray: prayer grounds the whole regimen. Thank God sincerely for His presence, His guidance and His blessings.

Step 7

What goes in the journal?

The thoughts and impressions from your quiet time. Over weeks, the journal becomes a record of your progress and a place to reflect on how you’re growing.

Step 8

What is the Warrior’s Creed?

A short declaration of who you are, your mission and your commitment, spoken out loud before you face the day.

“I am a child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made. My God is for me, so nothing can stand against me.”

Routines don’t hold you accountable

Brothers
do.

A routine on paper is a start. Most men need someone who will notice when they stop.

That’s what the free community and Firebrand mentorship are for: brothers who ask how the day went, and mean it.

The rest of the day
